Providing strategic lead on proposed Rossmore Academy communications.

April 2009

Communitas is working with sponsors to deliver a broad range of communications deliverables to support the consultation process around the proposed Rossmore Academy in Poole which would replace Rossmore Community College.

The two phase approach is now in its second phase, following a successful consultation period. Communitas gave the strategic lead on communications delivering a consultation document, postcards, website and press and event management.

The strategic approach also targeted students as a discrete audience and delivered a student workshop to ensure that young people were fully informed and engaged about the process and which had as one of its outcomes a student booklet – written by students who also inputted in to the design process. The booklet was designed to elicit feedback from students and was supported by a series of ‘wish’ cards asking students to state their hopes and dreams for a new Academy.

Communitas also produced a specially made film, aimed at and starring students in which students talked through the implications of the proposed Academy.

The second phase of communications strategy dovetails from the wish slip and is now underway. Young people at the school are working with Communitas to produce a leaflet which sets out students’ wishes as they appeared on the wish slips. In addition Communitas is delivering a new brand identity for the Academy – again fully involving young people in the process.
