As communications specialists working exclusively in the education sector both in the UK and internationally we invest time and resource in keeping our knowledge and skills up to date. We’re proud of our results and our customer service ethos. We believe in being open and adaptable, taking the time to understand how our clients work, being creative and practical in the solutions we recommend, being honest when things aren’t going as planned and focusing on solutions to get back on track. The majority of our clients have worked with us at least once before.
Ken brings a wealth of public and private sector experience to the design and production side of our business. He has designed and led on a number of whole-school launches, leading on the creation of new brand identities and a full range of marketing and communications deliverables. Ken brings a meticulous eye for detail and expertise in innovative design that reaches the right audience. Clients praise his ability to understand their priorities and work flexibly with a wide range of stakeholders. Since becoming Managing Director at the company's inception in 1999 Ken has successfully taken Communitas through Investors in People and the Public Relations Consultants' Association CMS (Communication Management Standard). Ken is currently a member on a Free School steering group providing marketing and PR support.
Hannah is an experienced communicator whose expertise covers the full communications mix, working across both the public and private sectors. She has directed and led on a wide variety of high-profile accounts including West London Free School, Teach First, Harlow College and Park View Educational Trust. Hannah brings excellent organisational skills, creative thinking and a conviction that every client deserves the best the team can deliver. She is a primary school governor and volunteer with a Brighton-based charity for children with special needs.
Michael is responsible for the financial side of the Communitas business, including negotiating and building relationships with our suppliers. He has many years’ experience in retail financial management for WH Smith, following which he went into advertising management for a London community newspaper and also worked for a London hospital trust providing information for research and reporting on public health statistics. Michael brings this latter experience to our market research work.
Working alongside the core Communitas team is a select group of associates with specific skills and knowledge. As and when projects require it we collaborate with these individuals while remaining responsible for the overall delivery and the client relationship.
Pascal Don is an experienced commercial magazine and graphic designer. Having managed design working in-house for financial publishing house Incisive Media and then for The Spectator, Pascal now runs his own successful design agency. With a wide range of clients across education, professional services, politics and tourism Pascal is well-versed in making sure that sometimes complex information is presented compellingly and with creative flair. Pascal has worked with Communitas across a wide range of education branding and communications projects.
John has more than 15 years’ experience of designing and building websites. He has successfully combined excellent creative skills with a clear focus on ease of user journey on a wide range of websites for the education and many other sectors. With a great eye for detail and a tight coding style John ensures that our clients’ back-ends are just as tidy as the front! Working mainly in CMS Made Simple all John’s sites are designed to be handed over to clients to update and manage if they choose to.
PR & Marketing Support
Fiona Lewis is a marketing communications consultant and writer/editor with 14 years’ experience in the not-for-profit and education sectors. She is passionate about brand and communications strategy and produces a wide range of innovative marketing materials including reports, brochures, newsletters, email shots and promotional films. She also undertakes qualitative and quantitative research and uses findings to develop marketing and media campaigns and to write policy white papers. She has worked with organisations including TimeBank, Home-Start, Virgin, NCVO and the National Literacy Trust where she set up a communications function and established their national profile.
Stakeholder Engagement Support
Yvonne has a strong track record of managing difficult and controversial stakeholder engagement projects sensitively and effectively. She has managed a broad spectrum of strategic engagement processes to optimise stakeholder involvement and ensure successful ‘buy-in’ and commitment on a wide range of highly complex and challenging projects. She has established effective negotiation and influencing skills and has the ability to work across organisational and cultural boundaries.
