Communitas has designed, written and produced a new magazine for the leading exam board, AQA.
The magazine will contribute to the ongoing debate around qualifications and skills.
The first issue throws the spotlight on the 14-19 year old education agenda covering the introduction of the new Diplomas and progress on the AQA Bacc.
Mike Cresswell, AQA’s Director General says:
“We want Award to be a forum for debate and a place for us to share best practice and new ideas with a range of education professionals."
In a major interview Mike Cresswell calls on major employers to make a positive contribution to the debate on what the UK economy needs in relation to the skills and talents of young people.
Mike Cresswell says:
“It seems to me that employers talk too negatively about what they regard as deficits in GCSEs and A levels. Yet those are the very qualifications that employers use and value when they are recruiting young people.
“We want employers to see and acknowledge how positive the recent changes have been, including the introduction of the Diplomas."
He also believes there is a greater consensus now between the political parties on some areas of the 14-19 agenda and calls for a very clear vision for the next ten years.
"The system needs that kind of long term view in order to be able to meet the needs of schools, colleges and young people”, says Mike Cresswell.
Other articles in the first issue of Award include the AQA Bacc, the new Diplomas, Modern Foreign Languages and progress on online marking.Award will be sent to education professionals, MPs, key opinion formers and centres.
The aim of the magazine, which will be published termly, is to communicate the priorities of AQA in an engaging and thought provoking way.
Award will be a forum for debate and a place for to share best practice and new ideas with a range of education professionals.
